preparing a meal
of fresh vegetables
New Year’s Eve

holidays wind down
geese at rest
in corn-stubble fields

* * *

ice floating
in rose-colored water
some days
feeling old
some young

* * *

shades of green and red
year-round
new year begins
with blessings
of fresh vegetables

* * *

reading new
and old poems
variety of evergreens
in the brown clay jug

* * *

treetops
in golden light
sunset

* * *

… I will hope continually
and will yet praise thee
more and more.
