Sunday blessings

PoppiesPeonies 003

Another day of fog and cool weather by Lake Michigan.  It was very cold this winter, and it will take time for the lake to be warm.  Our beautiful Great Lakes!

One day recently, Karl saw many pelicans flying over the lake.  Then I saw them too.  That was an amazing gift.

Some of our poppies bloomed this week.  Georgia O’Keeffe  painted the poppies and many flowers so well.  I wrote a Poem For Georgia O’Keeffe some time ago.

The picture of the pelican is courtesy of wpclipart.  Karl took the photos of the poppies in 2011.

  1. I do love poppies, and pelicans are my daily companions, but the best of all today was your poem for Georgia O’Keeffe. She’s always been an inspiration to me, especially when it comes to issues like confidence and (shall we say the word?) sassiness. She had such a clear sense of self. Wallace Berry says “the impeded stream is the one that sings,” but it’s just as true that, when we dynamite the rocks out of the river, it can flow freely.

    Happy day to you!

  2. Fog, not something I expect this time of year. This is one of the reasons I enjoy blogging so, learning what each day brings to someone’s life. Have a blessed day.

  3. Thank you for the blessings today. So special. Yesterday a little sparrow landed in our little pool and I scooped it out as quickly as possible. It was so water logged and was breathing with a funny sound coming out. But, it recovered and flew off! I was reminded of Him knowing if even a single sparrow falls. 🙂

  4. Yesterday was cooler here, too, and everyone was calmer and kinder and less frustrated. Thank goodness for these breaths of fresh air that remind us to slow down and enjoy all the beauty around us.

  5. Magnificent poppy, with its dazzling red and papery leaves. Yesterday we endured the coldest winter day recorded for the last 20 years. Once July has passed spring tiptoes in, slowly and quietly.
