Today Karl and I drove to Port Washington, as we do every year, to buy smoked salmon at Ewig’s. We saw a large flock of starlings – in the sky, on telephone wires, in trees.
And I saw a poem and we worked on it together. Karl thinks we may have seen some sparrows too. We were on the freeway.

I love this concept, seeing black birds as leaves to make the tree full.

I do love starlings. They have a reputation, sure. But their song is almost liquid, one of the prettiest there is. And your poem is lovely.

Hi Linda, I don’t know about starlings other than to have recognized them. I’m happy you like the poem. Thank you.

For the first time in many years I am awake at dawn and listening to the dawn chorus. The other evening I watched flocks of ibis flying to their homes to roost.
