a poem in the trees

Starlings

Today Karl and I drove to Port Washington, as we do every year, to buy smoked salmon at Ewig’s.  We saw a large flock of starlings – in the sky, on telephone wires, in trees.

And I saw a poem and we worked on it together.  Karl thinks we may have seen some sparrows too.  We were on the freeway.

birds on every branch

  1. For the first time in many years I am awake at dawn and listening to the dawn chorus. The other evening I watched flocks of ibis flying to their homes to roost.
