Through the decades, with volunteer work and other work, and with many good teachers and staff, I taught classes from early childhood to nursing home settings. I think a lot about the challenges for education now.
In April 2013, I began Poems For Bulletin Boards, and am adding new posts. You are welcome to use my poems in your lessons and art projects, with a simple credit for my work. Something I can offer.
I hope someone may think, “I can write too.” Perhaps a young writer, or someone in a nursing home who may be a new poet. All ages.
During my mother’s last illness, I read aloud to her. Authors she remembered, the Psalms, new poetry, and the news were part of our days. I called this time “islands of time.” They grew smaller and shorter, and much more care was needed, yet they last in my memory and were real. Also good to simply rest. Grateful for all who cared for my parents, and my Care Team now.
My mother taught English composition and literature, and my father taught history. I love to learn, and their great gift to me.
Take good care. When life changes in one way, it can grow in other ways. I am grateful to be home.
