And So My Soul

An old favorite, from a long time ago . . .

AND SO MY SOUL

And so my soul
Spills over
Into print again
As the sun spills
Over flowers
And the neighborhood
Sleeps

Endurance is eloquent
And marigolds are
Admirable because
They bloom
So long

Oh, my heart
Is tender
Yet God keeps it
Strong
And so my soul
Spills over
Into print again

Creative Notes

Lora Homan Zill, the editor of Time Of Singing, offers reflections and practical advice in her Editor’s Arias.  In her Spring 2017 essay, she shares her insights from her experience teaching at conferences.

I served as a judge for the summer contest, and enjoyed the poems. The deadline is past, and the form this time was Haiku, Senryu, or Tanka.  My haiku have been published in Time Of Singing since the early 1990s.  You can read other forms of poetry on the TOS sample poems page.

Our peonies will bloom this month.  This is a photo from last year.

Quiet Christmas Poetry

This year I wrote a new post for our large print chapbook, Quiet Christmas Poetry.  Karl and I created the book from the Christmas site in 2014.  The book was printed by GT Graphics in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

We received good feedback.  All proceeds are for the print journal, Time Of Singing, edited by Lora Homan Zill.  Copies are for sale at the TOS books page.

I’ve written posts to share a picture of the cover and other information.  Then the posts that became the book follow, if you wish to visit Quiet Christmas Poetry.

ever been this beautiful a blue?
