Grateful for Community

The Sheboygan County Wisconsin site has current and important information about Coronavirus (COVID-19). We follow the data at the Sheboygan County Coronavirus Case Dashboard.

So often I think of my parents and the history they lived through. We are all living through COVID-19 history. We wear our face masks, practice social distance, wash our hands often, etc. We take care of one another and ourselves. Our common story, one day at a time.

Future posts will feature the libraries in our area. I am always so grateful for libraries.

Thank YOU for your posts from many places. You add so much to my days.

I am creating a lot at home, since I am here most of the time. I can see this in my haiku. Recent posts are examples. I am calling these “Study Poems.”

When we moved here long ago, a neighbor said, “You learn to save some things for winter.” I love the quiet of late autumn and winter. And at this time, I like the sounds of the outdoor work. People are getting done what they can, and then that work too follows the weather and seasons. Patience.

I think there will be more letters and emails with requests for donations this year. Already a few on our kitchen table.

We plan some donations of Quiet Christmas Poetry. We published the book in 2014, and it is still new.  The second printing of the book was in 2017.  Thank you to GT Graphics in Sheboygan, Wisconsin for their excellent work. Perhaps there will be a third printing this year.

Poem

schedules, different
places and times

seasons vary,
ages, art forms

I look at my emails
and WordPress reader

blogs I have followed for years
and new blogs this week

and my archives – the times
I had to be away – and then
could post again

in my own small way
I know how day-to-day
recovery can be
and needs to be

time has to go by
and careful follow-up
instructions to honor

now I am older
and life can be better
and life can be so hard

and art grows too
and life can be better
once again over time

I follow the news – the data here and for the world. Personal stories.

And I also am blessed by our WordPress work. Thank you.

Haiku Photos at Home

These are more photos from my archives to share again. As I type, I think of haiku. A smaller form – or space – can lead to new ideas.

I read a lot, sometimes aloud. Many authors. Then perhaps I am more likely to think of a better word for a small poem.

The news, and then I see a cardinal in the yard. Daffodils and daylilies are beginning to grow, the early beginnings of new green.

These photos include treasures from thrift stores. I call some of my photos HAIKU PHOTOS.

Grateful at Home

I looked at my WordPress Reader and saw a post from the Mead Public Library Blog.

Mead Public Library is in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Of course, now they must be “Closed Until Further Notice.”

They have a page for Up-to-Date Information on Coronavirus (Covid-19).

The libraries offer so much to their communities. I have memories of going to a library with my mother. I do not remember learning how to read. My love of the language arts has carried me through many life chapters.

This life chapter we all share.

These are photos I took at home over the years.
