Creative Notes and Poems

I received the new WestWard Quarterly, The Magazine of Family Reading (Spring 2019). Shirley Anne Leonard is the Editor, and Dr. Richard Leonard is the Publisher. They kindly published the small ad Karl and I wrote for this blog. We invite readers of WestWard Quarterly to visit.

These are a few of my poems from WestWard Quarterly, that were published there over the years. This is a print magazine, with a website.

AUTUMN GRACE

leaves of bleeding hearts
now gold
so do broken hearts mend
so does grief heal

lovingkindness

Yesterday, as I was reading The Psalms, I especially noted the word lovingkindness. This morning I looked up a few examples of verses.

How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God!
therefore the children of men put their trust
under the shadow of thy wings.

Psalm 36: 7 (KJV)

Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord:
let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

Psalm 40: 11 (KJV)

Yet the Lord will command
his lovingkindness in the daytime,
and in the night his song shall be with me,
and my prayer unto the God of my life.

Psalm 42: 8 (KJV)

Creative Notes: Flowers and Time

morning time
many flowers

that will bloom
here too
in time

During the years I drove to Milwaukee to help with my mother’s care, I saw many flowers bloom there, and later here. The drive back and forth was interesting and beautiful.

I am grateful I can observe in so many ways . . .

and I am then more sure as I write about what I see. Nice to be able to look back at posts and remember dates, from year to year.

And here, we will see flowers in town and other nearby places, before by Lake Michigan. Spring takes time, and then stays for a time.

Very grateful for this beauty all year!
And always the light to observe.
