the trees the light the sky

As wonderful as the colors of October are, I always feel blessed by November. I sit and read, as so often in my small study. How simple the view now. The trees the light the sky and words.

And as a creative note, I am enjoying Wisconsin Life, hosted by Angela Fitzgerald; along with other shows on PBS. So many good programs, about food, nature, arts and crafts.

garden notes

birch tree branch
outside my study
window

many new leaves
and another part
of the branch
that seems gone
yet visited by a bird
this morning

lilacs almost in bloom
and violets by the door

grey-green morning

grey-green morning
hosta plants grow
by different trees
and by the porch

colorful primroses
in the yard
grow and bloom
from garden to lawn

lilacs along the roads
and in the yard soon

poems and photo

There is a lightness to the wind today. The evergreens picture joy.

birch tree branches
are simply themselves

no snow
frozen raindrops
from Sunday gone

soon the beginnings
of new green leaves

Poem from my archives:

in the backyard
birds back
and singing
never too old
to find this new

how beautiful this day

as much as I look forward
to Spring – how beautiful
this day

with icicles and blue sky
birch trees and
Lake Michigan

more books to read
and poetry journals now
than I can in one season

I wonder where
some years have gone
many are here

for a time

reading poetry
from books and journals
recently in the mail
and also on my shelves
for a time

and for a different
sense of time

the new sun
on the birch trees
in the back yard
