September

This is a poem from September 2012.

September begins
with apple trees
overflowing to the ground
and the music of wind

on a short errand
goldenrod in bloom
near Bossler’s
Christmas Tree Farm

oh I am in no hurry
one day at a time
works best for me now

still the image stays in my mind . . .

Wisconsin seasons

Wisconsin seasons
each with their own
character and beauty
how I love the seasons

a walk by the river

a walk by the river
butterflies and wildflowers
memories of being there
this time last year
after medical appointments
in Sheboygan

I said, “Hello, old friends”
when I saw the trees

Karl took these photos last year. I thought, “It is healing to walk by the river.” Then I realized the river is healing too. Later today, we will review photos from yesterday and share here the next few days.

Signs of Spring

the trail looks the same today

brown colors of early Spring
some snow and there may
be more in our Wisconsin April

yet the sounds tell more of the story

bird songs again
and now
for the first time this year

we hear frogs sing
from ponds in fields

the trail is more alive today
