Creativity Over Time

When I write posts that review work over a long time – for example, my post yesterday for the Daily Prompt – it is an encouragement to see creativity over time.

Times I have been unable to write I was still growing as a writer. And someone may have been reading a poem from years ago.

the years
that were so hard
and yet
they gave me
my stories

gifts of silence
and beauty
in the middle
of difficult times
unconditional love
are the stronger
memories now

The seasons are an inspiration.

today the sun shines
after much rain
and I think about
art on the walls
and arrangements
how shapes and colors
work together

and also spaces
with nothing more
like a new journal
or blog post
a page of paper
what may yet
be created?

review – 2

early poems
and new gifts
of trying to write
in a new way

setting aside often
for all the right reasons
and then renewal
over time

not a clue
that blogs were
in my future

and would offer
the world to me

review

Yesterday, I began my review of my poetry files, before email. This has been a goal for awhile.

I know there is a lot to learn there: poems sent for review, a few accepted, and most of all, the feedback from writers and editors. This is all a part of so many years and memories. An hour here, an hour there. Not too much at one time.

Most of all, I want to say thank you to editors who took the time to encourage a new poet. I am always beginning anew. Most of all, with my poems, I try to express in simple language the seasons and daily life through the years. Encouragement.

I have lost touch with some print journals and editors. Often, they were from a generation older than me. I will let go, and I will also save a few notes and old poems. Perhaps create a collage. And some new space in my files for life now.

And thank you. I like that the work I want to save is all here, and lots of informal posts too.
