reach the earth

reach gardens
where primroses,
hosta, and lilies grow

faith kept and grown
when much else could not
the rains arrived
puddles in the fields
how beautiful
the rich brown earth
primroses growing
from garden to lawn
deep decades of roots
strengthen my faith
for new dreams
beginning
in the area
where we had
to take a tree down
new peony leaves

clear night sky
plants and gardens wait
for sunrise
gardens growing
long before we came here
how deep the roots
must be and decades old
planted in God’s earth

every day a gift . . .
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills,
from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord,
which made heaven and earth.
