This is an older poem, and my thoughts today reflect changes and years.

Good to have goals, and good to be flexible and able to revise. For example, I have made good progress on a draft for a new book. One post at a time, work grows. Then the new work is to make selections. Let things rest, and return with a renewed perspective. And I still like Quiet Christmas Poetry (2014, Elin Grace Publishing; second printing 2017). So perhaps the new book in 2022. Every person’s journey is unique. Take good care.

all that returns
all that endures
daffodils, primroses,
ferns, daylilies, hosta . . .

The gardens are an endless source of education and inspiration. There have been losses, and other plants seem to always return – over the years and different weather conditions. Our gardens are all perennials now, and we usually buy a planter of flowers from a local store.

I recently completed the draft for a new book of poetry. We decided on Karl’s photo of swans and Lake Michigan for the cover. My goal is to publish by the end of the year. And that can be revised. The last few years, I began a new book a few times. So having completed the draft now is an achievement. Grateful.

As many of you know, Karl and I began Poems From Oostburg, Wisconsin in December 2009. A lot can happen in 10 years! Hope you enjoy this selection of poems. I still hope to create a print book from this blog, which is my primary site, with Karl’s help and photos. There will be a page with careful credits, and also with dates and places for Karl’s photos (this will take time and patience). Sometimes, with posts over time, we realize we have achieved more than we knew. No small thing to begin and create a blog. Sometimes I’ve wondered if I can continue; and then I rest and trust and return. And begin another season of work, by God’s grace.

I see them anew 

The card is a watercolor painting by Charles A. Waugaman (1932 – 2010). I created the still life arrangement and the photo is by Karl. I take good care of cards from Charles and other friends.

Charles A. Waugaman created this book cover and illustrated Welcoming Hope: Poems For Those In Need, an anthology we published with Time Of Singing (2007, Elin Grace Publishing). Copies may still be ordered from the TOS Books Page. The themes are timeless. Lora Homan Zill and I were Editors and Charles was Art Editor.
