hosta leaves

hosta leaves
green and gold
orange lilies
and purple flowers
from a store
Fall colors
along the roads
and some trees
with fallen leaves
November begins

Karl and I went to Walmart in Sheboygan today. The temperature was just a little above freezing this morning. Good to buy fresh food and also canned soups and other supplies. November has a special beauty. Lunch at the kitchen table, and carrot cake from the store. I like that we can buy a small portion and share. Then we each have our own work under the same roof. Grateful.

Garden Poems – 4

gold hosta leaves
and sounds of rain
October morning

some water
for the Christmas cactus
new buds grow

October days
and November in sight
frost on the ground

October 2020

all a day can hold
sun and shadows
on the wood window frame
above my desk
in my small study

late afternoon
sky colors and no wind
quiet day

sunset as I write
sky changes
to night

for as long
as I can remember
the wonder of books

November 2020

Garden Poems – 3

Emily Dickinson
on a rainy day
gold leaf stays
on the branch

October 2018

bright sunrise
icicles on fallen branches
near the water

November 2018

the shortest day
of the year
in my heart

November 2018

shapes of trees
and branches
with few leaves

drawing a picture
with a poem
