patterns on the roof
created by snow and wind
found art
new drawings
of tree branches
on the wall . . .
how the light falls
on a December day
mid-February
my reading glasses
needed to study
the frost painting
on the window
paper poetry files
overflow and I try
to create an inch or two
of new space for now
in a thoughtful way
yet once these drawers
were empty and look
how life can grow
when we work as we can
our many gifts
over decades now
and many times set aside
for all the right reasons
which I believe made
my work better in time
some of the people
who wrote over time
were older than me
and no longer here in person
or we have lost touch
and now I can reread
and learn more at the
age I am now – their good
feedback and help with
poetry

still life
all the shapes and colors
of books
garden rests
evergreens ready
for winter
pumpkins
in fields and stores
October
country roads
trees with fallen leaves
ash trees that no longer grow
garden journal
cedar tree green and brown
in autumn light

for a plant in sun
light and images
from the yard
on the wall
times I was away
my health
or to care for another
something added
to my work over time
