paper poetry files

paper poetry files
overflow and I try
to create an inch or two
of new space for now
in a thoughtful way

yet once these drawers
were empty and look
how life can grow
when we work as we can
our many gifts

over decades now
and many times set aside
for all the right reasons
which I believe made
my work better in time

some of the people
who wrote over time
were older than me
and no longer here in person
or we have lost touch

and now I can reread
and learn more at the
age I am now – their good
feedback and help with
poetry

ash trees that no longer grow

times I was away
my health
or to care for another
something added
to my work over time

Saturday

I take a break
from the news
and all the stories
that matter so much

and am blessed
by the sight
of tomatoes
in an old bowl

February Collage

Hope you enjoy February Collage. This review of February years was a peaceful time of reflection, gratitude, and hope.

My haiku is from February 28, 2011, and reprinted in Quiet Christmas Poetry (2014).

…to give unto them
beauty for ashes,
the oil of joy for mourning,
the garment of praise
for the spirit of heaviness…

I wrote, Even though the water, sky and beach are always changing, there are moments when time seems to rest a little.

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage,
and he shall strengthen thine heart:
wait, I say, on the Lord.
