in loving memory
my parents and brother
we shall meet again

time for lunch
cardinals by a pumpkin
in the garden

We bought pumpkins last year, and also received two as a gift. I loved the orange color as the gardens faded. Now they are in the snow, along with perennials that will grow again.

Gardens rest

New Year’s Eve morning
gardens are happy
to be covered with snow

The gardens rest, and grateful for plants and flowers this year.

Bleeding Hearts: Photo and Poems

This is another beautiful photo by Karl from yesterday.

Poems from my archives, inspired by bleeding hearts:

on my desk —
bleeding hearts in bloom

Published first in Time Of Singing (1994). Also reprinted with the poems selected for my Poet Profile at The Haiku Foundation.
