Gardens and Gratitude

grateful today
for perennials
that grow and bloom
through so many
different years

the wildflowers
we did not plant
yet found a place here

the formal gardens
we see in the area
and their serene beauty
what work there must be
to offer this view
as we drive by on our way
home

yard work

water
for the begonia

and hosta petals
on the lawn

small vase of daylilies
for the sunroom

goldenrod grows tall
above the windowsill

bees, butterflies, and
hummingbirds visit
by the windows

daylilies begin

daylilies begin
to bloom in sun
all the years
they grow, flower,
wait through winter
and return again

Karl has taken great care with the hosta and lilies through the years. They grow close to our old house. We keep the path to the back door clear, which means a few bouquets for the house. We have a well, and do not water the gardens. What is there grows well.

June Garden 2021

Karl and I enjoyed some sunny time in the yard. He planted the lily plants from Meijers in Sheboygan, the red geranium from Windmill Gardens in Cedar Grove, and the hyacinth plant from Walmart this Spring. On the porch we have a new begonia planter from The Home Depot in Kohler, and a pansies planter from Walmart in Sheboygan.
