Good Friday

I waited patiently for the Lord;
and he inclined unto me,
and heard my cry.

Psalm 40: 1 (KJV)

stories and memories

Once upon a time, I taught Sunday School year-round for 12 years.  Karl helped me too.  The last 15 minutes of class, I read books by Madeleine L’Engle and C.S. Lewis to the class.  We had a box of art supplies and the children could create as they listened.  Our discussions ranged from the formal curriculum to God caring when their feelings were hurt.  A few students have stayed in touch.  My main goal was for them to feel comfortable with their Bibles, so they could read and ask their own questions.  They did not have to read aloud or say anything, if they were not comfortable.  Reading and skill levels varied.

On my Easter site this week, I posted one of Charles A. Waugaman’s very best poems:  ‘Good’ As In Friday.  I read this poem year-round.

On this site, there is an Easter poem by Charles in the Pages.  This is a picture of a card he made, with one of his paintings.  “Hope Will Not Cease.”

Three Irises: Poem About God’s Love

Gold, rust, you remind
Me of the Father’s rich love:
So many flowers
All from one single tall stem
Love upon love upon love.

Purple, you remind
Me of the Son, Jesus Christ:
“This is my body
Broken to break sin and death
Love upon love upon love.”

And peach, you remind
Me of the Holy Spirit:
Sent to glorify
The Son, do what we cannot
These colors are amazing.

Three irises stand
Fragrant in the front garden
Father, Son, Spirit
Sing “Holy, Holy, Holy
Love upon love upon love.”
