Bloganuary Prompt for January 5, 2023

What brings you joy in life? The list is long, and reflected in many blog posts over the years. Perhaps I can share a few poems and photos.

from garden to lawn
deep decades of roots

for new dreams

“breakfast and music” is also from my site POEMS FROM PSALMS AND NATURE.

“Library” was published by WestWard Quarterly, Fall 2018.

“primroses growing” was published by SMILE, 2012. An old poem that is still true.

Easter And Spring Poetry

Easter And Spring Poetry is a small site where I am creating some posts for Lent and Easter 2020. Some of your favorite poems are shared again. Last year, I posted there from February to May 2019. I will see what poems I have written since then that may be good to reprint in a new way as well. And perhaps even some new poems!

LENT acrostic poem

These are photos from wpclipart, a good education resource.

Poems are by Ellen Grace Olinger.

two poems

some days
I read a little more
with my heart
and let my mind rest

different writers
and their gifts
with many forms

poems, novels,
letters, stories
blog posts

another day
or even year
I will reread and

understand a little
more about craft
and what I learned
from the author

yes, this is the gift
of growing older
all that can be kept
in the heart

grown to new art

Today – still love the mystery of learning. I may read a poet for comfort and wisdom, and later reread and study the craft. “Oh, I see – wonderful.” And meanwhile, a good way to pass the time when I need more rest. Light for a new life-lesson.

far from perfect
and in need of grace
we found our way
to unconditional love

Poems From Psalms And Nature

after the storm

after the storm
blue sky and sun
on evergreens
covered with snow

I pray a few verses
from the Psalms
after the storm
and always

Thy statutes have been my songs
in the house of my pilgrimage.

Psalm 119: 54 (KJV)

Short Poems About Birds

birds in the painting
from the thrift store
forever in flight

how small the song
of an unknown bird
quiet memories

in the backyard
birds back
and singing
never too old
to find this new

bluebirds
truly so blue
trustworthy friends

losses in life
low setting sun
through branches of trees
now rises again
as birds quietly sing

pink clouds
span the horizon
seagulls take flight
stretching to read
new books

afternoon rain
seagulls on pilings
wait to fly again

Images of seagulls are courtesy of wpclipart.
