Christmas Wreath

a Christmas wreath
for my parents’ graves
even though I know
they are not there

for Harold and Enola

Nanna’s grave says, “Born in Sweden” – my father’s mother.  My mother’s mother died a year before I was born, to the day.  She was German.  I think my art is from her.  Nanna loved her yard and I remember her kitchen.  My mother and father were teachers.

The wreath is courtesy of wpclipart.  I’ll add a few more pictures from there.

early morning silence

early morning silence
and I remember –
this is where and when
my poems arrive

I’ve written many poems about the language arts and creativity.  Here are a few favorites from my archives.

reading poetry
my coffee gets cold
guess I made it
for the fragrance

reading poems
not worried about those
I don’t understand
but perhaps will
another time

turning the page
of an older book
the age in my hands

Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation.  Psalm 71: 18 (KJV)

resting my eyes
after reading for a time
raindrop catches the sun

Poems are by Ellen Grace Olinger.
