cedar tree shadows
on the cedar garage
early light
red begonia plant
in sun by the door
late afternoon
near windows
sun on leaves where
hummingbirds were
today and yesterday
small flowers
near the kitchen windows
first hummingbird

My poem from May 24, 2019:
hosta plants grow
around the ash tree stump
an abundance of health
and new green
as if to say
we knew you would not
last the storm
we are here
there is new beauty now
new hope and a new time
And again today, plus hawkweed after rain in the same area of the yard.
Ellen Grace Olinger
blue sky and green trees
what a comfort
to read near a window
and see the same view
year after year
much has changed
new learning curves
and all I cannot know
though I learn a little more
every day
and sometimes
what is stored
in the heart is enough

reading haiku
the generous new growth
of evergreens
Ellen Grace Olinger
more sky to see
with loss of trees
if they were ready to fall
how good the way they fell
simply to the ground
in a storm last year
over the water
no one and nothing hurt
more sky to see
and birds to watch
this quiet morning

From Reusable Art:
birch tree branch
outside my study
window
many new leaves
and another part
of the branch
that seems gone
yet visited by a bird
this morning
lilacs almost in bloom
and violets by the door
